About a one-mile
stretch of Del. 1 between Rehoboth Beach and
Dewey Beach for years has been known as the
Forgotten Mile because it has no sidewalks...
Some motorists, residents and merchants in
that area said the improvements are long
overdue. "Patience does pay off," said
Joanne DeFiore, a resident of the Seabreeze
development who coined the Forgotten Mile
nickname.
... The project will include the
construction of sidewalks on both sides of the
highway to connect with paved walkways already
in place in other areas of the beach corridor,
such as in Dewey... residents might have
viewed the stretch of road as "forgotten," but
it wasn't intentionally neglected.
